Abstract

This research aims to analyze the blue economy and food security in 8 island provinces in Indonesia. Namely, Bangka Belitung Province, Riau Islands, Southeast Sulawesi Province, North Sulawesi Province, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and North Maluku.  This research wants to analyze the determining factors of the blue economy and food security and also see how the blue economy sector contributes to increasing the growth of food security in Indonesia. Especially in the 8 Island Provinces in Indonesia. This research uses panel data analysis with a simultaneous panel approach with a 5 year time series and a cross section of 8 island provinces.  The variables used are 5 exogenous variables, namely, HDI, Investment, Carbon Emissions, Population and Income per capita. Then 2 endogenous variables, namely Blue Economy and Food Security. The results of this research show that in the Blue Economy equation, the Human Development Index and Investment have a significant positive relationship with the Blue Economy variable while the Carbon Emission variable has a negative but not significant relationship with the Blue Economy. Then in the second equation, namely the Food Security equation, it was found that the Blue economic variable, Investment has a positive and significant relationship to Food Security, and the Population variable has a negative and significant relationship to food security. However, the per capita income variable does not have a significant relationship with food security even though the coefficient value is positive. The policy recommendations that will be produced are focused on developing a blue economy which is believed to be able to contribute as a promising economic driver and increase people's purchasing power along with a sustainable increase in welfare.
